--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slapping the alarm clock, you sat up from your bed and rubbed your eyes. Another day, another headache, and worst of all, another torment spree from the sluts at work.

Groggily walking downstairs, you stirred up a cup of (favorite hot drink) and put in a poptart. You looked out from the early morning sky, which still looked like a midnight blanket. I would say today is going to be a good day, but after saying that for awhile, I just realized that I need to stop myself from lying too much.

Putting on your jacket and running out into the bitter, winter air, you hopped in your car and drove to work. The headlights bounced off of the street and into the darkness, creating a better view for you to see. Wasn't like it mattered, though. You would still get yelled at for 'being late'. Your boss did not like you, even though you were probably the nicest person in the office. It was like the entire building, entire company, and entire team was against you. You hated it.

Pushing the glass doors open, you yawned and walked over to the elevator. Normally, you took the stairs, since you could avoid seeing the other workers, but today you were just overly exhausted. You let a shaking finger press the 'up' button, and waited for the metal doors to slid open. Finally, they did, and unfortunately, you were not alone for the ride.

The man you were doomed to ride the elevator with looked surprisingly chipper. He had chocolate brown hair that stood out wildly and piercing green eyes. His suit was nothing special except for the koala bear stuffed animal hanging off of his back. That thing looked extremely pissed off. On his face was a band-aid across the bridge of his nose, and he had a light tan.

"G'day, mate!" The guy said, smiling. His voice was accented, and by the sound of it, he was Australian. You gave a "meh" in response, leaning on the elevator wall with a sullen face. "Why the long face, sheila?" You looked at him with your (e/c) eyes, and then there was a moment of silence. The elevator came to a halt, and you sighed in relief as the doors opened, revealing your floor. Not bidding the polite man a 'good-bye' or 'nice meeting you', you walked out and slumped to your cube.

The girls in front of you were chatting at record speed, their mouths moving a mile-a-minute. You sat down and logged onto your computer, sighing. The girl in front of you (and your best friend), Emily, turned towards you. "Did you hear about the news, [Name]?!" She asked, overly excited. You gave her a glare, and mumbled, "What?" She frowned a little at your short and rude response, but then smiled again. "There's a new guy working on this floor! He's adorable!" Well, Emily though everything was adorable, so the guy probably wasn't that cute. "He's on our team!" You rolled your eyes and started tapping the keyboard again.

The day went by slowly, and it was still early in the morning. You looked at the clock, and at what felt like hours passing by, you were only 20 minutes into work! You grumled and stared back at your computer screen, until... "Hey, sheila!" Oh great. You turned your head to see the Australian dude walking towards you, smile still plastered on his handsome face. The koala bear was still on his back, except now on a....different side? Strange. "Um...hi." You replied, bluntly. He sat at the cube in the back of yours, and a lightbulb went off. This must be the guy Em was talking about... "I forgot to introduce myself back in the elevator, mate! The name's Jett. Jett Kirkland." He held out his hand. Reluctantly taking it, you said, "[Full Name]." "Pretty name for a pretty girl!" You blushed, not knowing it. "Well, I gotta start working, but you take care, kay, sheila?" And he turned away, started up his computer. You did the same.

As the day passed, your lunch break finally came. People headed to the break room, but you stayed at your desk. Turning away from the computer, your eyes met olive green ones. "Hey, [Name], was it? You mind if I talk to you a little bit?" It was Jett, and he was by far annoying your right now. But you'd hate to be rude to a guy on his first day. "Um....no...not at all." "Where ya from?" Well that was an obvious question. You were in (country name)! You were from here. "Uh....(home town.) I moved here about a year ago." The man laughed. "So you're a native, huh? I came from the big smoke[1], Sydney. I used to be an animal scientist. Moved here to get a fresh start ever since my dumbass brother kicked me out." That was pretty awful. "What happened?" You asked. "Eh, I chucked too many sickies[2]. Wasn't exactly feeling the job any more, ever since the scientists started cutting the poor little guys open and stuff. I saved this guy before he became the next experiment." He pointed to the koala bear. That thing was real?! "C-C-Can I pet him?" You asked. "Sure! He doesn't bite! He may look scary, but he's a real sweetheart once you get to know him!" You reached your hand out towards the fuzzy animal's back. It was very soft, and once you hit a certain spot, the animal seemed to relax. "Hey, later, do you maybe want to take a smoko[3] with me from here?" "Uh....sure....." You did not exactly know what this meant, but Jett seemed like a nice guy, not to mention he was very cute, so why not?

At the end of the day, you didn't get torment. You walked out of work oddly smiling. "Hey, [Name]! Still up for what we arranged earlier?" Jett ran up to you, grinning. You nodded, remembering that you said you would join him for a 'smoko'. He led you to a Starbucks, and you sighed in relief. It wasn't that you didn't trust him or anything, you were just worried that a smoko was something odd. Luckily, it was just stopping by for coffee. "What do you want?" He asked, taking the wallet out from his back pocket. "No, no, it's okay. I can pay for the drinks." You said, taking out your own wallet from your (f/c) handbag. "Rest your feet, sheila. I got this." He smiled warmly, but there was a hint of "you're not going to win this" in his eyes, so it was best you put the leather case back. At the counter, you ended up getting a hot chocolate with whipped cream. You saw Jett raise an eyebrow as you walked over to the condiments counter, taking the sugar shaker. "Isn't sweet enough?" He asked. You turned to him after pouring some of the white substance in. "The hot chocolate here is very, very bland. You only make the mistake to think that once."[4] Jett, gripping his own cup, nodded quickly and grabbed the sugar shaker, copying your actions. Finally sipping the brown liquid, you sighed in relaxation. "Thanks for buying this for me, Jett." You said. The Australian man nodded. "No, thank you for coming with me."

After talking a bit then exiting the coffee shop, you made your way to your car. Hopping in, you saw Jett walk over. You rolled down your window. "Thanks again for coming with me. It really helped my first day at working somewhere else other than Sydney's old labs." You nodded. "Anytime, I had fun." You smiled. Jett grinned back, and before you could utter a 'good-bye', he kissed your cheek then ran off. Blushing wildly, and processing what happened, you rolled up your window. For that whole ride home, you smiled.

Work was about to get a whole lot better.

[1] I'm trying to use Australian slang as much as I can, here. 'Big smoke' usually means a big city....according to the Internet. I only know American slang. Sorry! If you're Australian and would like to help me a bit with this stuff....PLEASE DO.

[2] According to the internet, 'chuck a sickie' means to take a sick day off from work when you're healthy.

[3] Smoko - smoke or coffee break. In this term, coffee break.

[4] It's true, for those of you who have never gotten hot chocolate from Starbucks before. I was with my friend, and we stopped there before going to the Renassaince Fair, and I got hot chocolate. My friend got hot chocolate, and basically it was a reenactment of the conversation of that you have with Jett....except I wasn't smart like Jett and take my friend's advice. On the way home, we stopped again, and this time I was much smarter.
Long story is long. :|

Anyways, I've been on an Australia phaze lately. I think I might even start loving him even more than Scotland, and that's saying something.

:iconsexyaustraliaplz::iconsaysplz:HAHAAAA! THE WRITER LIKES ME MOOOOOOORE!

:iconsexyscotland2plz::iconsaysplz:SHUT UUUUUUUP!

Brotherly love. Isn't it just adorable and sexy?

Anyways, I actually really liked writing this, and looking through an entire page of Australian slang, I got all my words from this: [link]

And the Starbucks story about the hot chocolate is very true. Trust me, that stuff is BLAND. But, when you put some sweets in it, it's really good. ;D

Like always....

PS. 'Down Under' by Men at Work is the THEME for our Jetty! And part of the reason I chose the name Jett over Kyle, Christain, and Cody is because my favorite character from Avatar: The Last Airbender is actually named Jet, and they have similar personalities....except Aussie doesn't have a bunch of mental and personal problems and a league of rebellious teenagers who come to his every beck and call.
